Simple answers about how CareTags work, who they are for, and which type might be right for you.
A CareTag is a simple NFC tag that can show helpful contact information when tapped with a smartphone. It can be worn, carried, stuck to an item, or attached to a pet collar.
If you'd like to try CareTags technology before committing to a purchase, you can do so by claiming 1 free CareTag sticker.
We'll send you a free CareTag sticker that you can stick to your stuff and add your contact details via the CareTags web app so that when the CareTag is scanned, it shows your valid contact details.
These contact details will then remain active and visible when scanned for a period of 7 days. After 7 days, to keep your details active simply purchase the CareTag with a special 50% discount. We will email you with a special purchase link. No ongoing subscriptions.
No. The person scanning the CareTag does not need the CareTags app. They simply tap the tag with a compatible smartphone and the contact information opens in their browser.
No. CareTags use NFC technology, so they do not need batteries, charging or switching on.
Yes. You can update the information linked to the CareTag through the CareTags web app, so you do not need to replace the tag if your details change.
A pendant, wrist band or iron-on patch is usually best. Pendants and wrist bands are easy to wear, while iron-on patches can be added to coats, bags or clothing for a more discreet option.
Wrist bands are often the best choice for children because they are visible and easy to wear on days out. Iron-on patches are also useful for coats, bags and school clothing.
A pet tag or small pendant-style CareTag is best for collars. It can sit alongside a normal ID tag and give someone another way to contact you if your pet is found.
Stickers are usually best for belongings such as phones, tablets, laptops, wallets, keys, luggage and bags. They are simple to attach and easy for someone to scan if the item is found.
Add enough information to help someone contact the right person. This could include a first name, short message, phone number, email address, or guidance such as “please call my daughter”.
You choose what information to share. We recommend only adding details you are comfortable making visible to someone who scans the tag.
